Rodan + Fields ESSENTIALS Foaming Sunless Tan

With Skin Cancer on the rise many of us are looking to alternative ways to get our tan on.  Air brush and spray tans can be great, but they can also get costly and take up time, so many are resorting to at home sunless tanners.  The market is flooded with all different types, but how can you achieve the perfect sun-kissed glow from home?  As a Rodan + Fields Independent Consultant I get this question a lot and there are tricks to the trade!

The first thing you need to decide is what to use and with so many different brands and types out there it can be overwhelming.  My biggest advice is read reviews, they can tell you a lot about a tanner, and you don’t want to be orange!  My favorite Sunless Tanner is Rodan +

Rodan + Fields ENHANCEMENTS Body Micro-Dermabrasion

You always want to start by with smooth skin, so a good shave and a great exfoliate are next on the list.  I personally love Rodan + Fields ENHANCEMENTS Body Micro-Dermabrasion on my body and Rodan + Fields Micro-Dermabrasion Paste on my face.  I keep both in my shower and use while I am showering.  By exfoliating before you apply your sunless tanner, you are getting rid of all the old and dead skin cells, while evening and smoothing your skin texture, and believe me this is a VERY important step to making your sunless tanner look natural and will help with extending the duration of you tanner.

Rodan + Fields ENHANCEMENTS Micro-Dermabrasion Paste

Next you want to dry off really good and apply lotion to your dryer, rougher skin areas that the tanner might settle.  This would be your ankles, toes, knees, elbows, wrists, and fingers.  I like to use a tanning glove to apply my tanner so that it goes on evenly and so that my hands do not get overly stained.  I got my tanning glove at Ulta, but I think that you can pretty much find them anywhere.  I squirt the foaming tanner on the glove and then apply evenly.  Always start on your feet and work up!  I use my tanner on my face and neck so that the color is the same on all areas.  You will need to wait a couple of minutes until your tanner is dry before putting clothes on and applying lotion.  This is one of the reasons that I love Rodan + Fields tanner, it drys quickly!

Make sure that you keep your skin hydrated so that your tan will last and I promise that with each application the process with get easier and easier!
